Enough

The room was silent, nothing said excepts for the gasps of breaths taken. Nothing done about the tears that came freely. Let them fall, Ray thought, for perhaps they don’t matter. For when does one persons tears ever matter? What does one person do against the whole? Against a nation? Ray supposes that they only matter when they make themselves matter.

“This is but a shadow, in the end its only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out all the clearer. We have a chance of turning back, of ruining everything. But we’re not going to, no matter what we’ll keep going, because we’re holding onto something. There’s some good in this world and its worth fighting for.” Ray had struck them speechless, she had surprised even herself, looking desperately at the men before her.

She had a chance to change something and she wasn’t going to back down. Be calm, she thought to herself, looking everyone before her in the eye, baring her fierceness. Ray is a legion, she is a seven nation army and a hurricane, and she knows it. Her voice is a weapon, her thoughts ammunition, she sees her truth and bares her soul so everyone will see her resolve.

The world weighed heavy on her for so long, so she is speaking and being heard, one word after the next. Her burning burden shared among those around her Ray is loud, she will make noise and be heard for those that can’t, she will stand poised and open. She is hope and rage and love and sorrow and desperate need coupled with unseeing faith. She will be enough.
